Automated storage system TwinTower

Protech company has been dealing with comprehensive steel processing for years, and the dynamic development of the company’s operations has given rise to the possibility of expanding the plant – at the end of 2022, the main production hall was enlarged. The increase in usable space was associated with the expansion of the machine park with another high-class equipment responsible for the storage and processing of sheet metal.

The construction of a new hall and the planned increase in production in Protech created space for the implementation of a new machine park. The new machines include the TwinTower automated storage system.

The implemented storage system has been adapted to the needs of the new hall and is located near the laser cutting machines. The main functionality that is responsible for increasing production efficiency are three stations that serve as access points to materials. Two of them move along the long side and both are on the same track. When one station is located outside the rack and material can be taken from it for the laser cutting machine, the other one located inside can take another shelf with material. The third station leaving on the short side and stops 5 meters from the storage system and serves as a place for loading metal sheets from a forklift and depalletizing them. According to the needs of the recipient, the TwinTower storage system was equipped with 3 control panels. The Smart WMS Standard software is responsible for controlling the machine.

The storage system is used to store metal sheets with a maximum size of 3 x 1.5 m. The storage system implemented in Protech has 78 shelves with dimensions of 3100 x 1560 mm and a total load capacity of 3000 kg. The total storage system height of 8455 mm makes full use of the space available in the hall.
