Sheet metal storage and transport

NucAir Technologies Sp. z o.o. is a manufacturing company specialising in the production of ventilation systems for the nuclear and shipbuilding industries, among others, and the components manufactured are dedicated to specific customer requirements.

In connection with the construction of a modern production plant, in line with the idea of Industry 4.0, it was decided to implement an automated sheet metal storage for storing sheets with dimensions of 6 m x 2 m, which are used in the production proces. The TwinTower implemented is equipped with a movable loading-unloading station, accommodates 34 shelves with a load capacity of 5 000 kg each, making it possible to store 170 tonnes of sheets, which are available in a short time (about 3 minutes) for operators. The movable loading-unloading station is equipped with a depalletiser which makes it possible to separate the sheet pack from the pallet. The depalletisation of the metal sheet packs and the loading of new metal sheets into the storage is carried out outside the building. The movable station moves in automatic mode between 3 stops  – outside the building, inside the storage system and inside the building. A dedicated, special shelf allows the collection and removal of production waste – when the shelf is full of waste, it is picked up by the station and transported outside the building where the unnecessary material is removed. The movable station also delivers sheets close to the laser cutting machine for convenience and increased production efficiency. Baumalog’s control software enables the management of a database of stored materials and the transport of shelves.
