The Lithuanian company Plieno Fortas is one of the most advanced steel processing companies in the Baltic States. Fortas provides steel processing and production services for various industry sectors – for the manufacturers of forest machinery, agricultural machinery, construction, furniture, interior, medicine, shop equipment, industrial equipment. The company also manufactures fireproof steel plate doors with a wide range of sizes.
Features
Due to the factory expansion and increasing production, the company decided to automating the process of storing long elements used in production processes, where machining is carried out, among the others rods and pipes over 12 meters long. The TwinTower automated storage system turned out to be the solution that met expectations of Fortas company.
To facilitate the loading of such long elements and due to the limited space inside the room, Baumalog’s engineers proposed that the loading process take place outside the building – for this purpose the TwinTower® was equipped with a side moveable loading station.
The TwinTower® has 23 trays with a useful length of 12 500 mm and a load capacity of 3 000 kg each, which allows to store 69 000 kg of material to be stored in a safe and orderly way. In addition, 4 shelves have a full, reinforced bottom, enabling storage of containers with components. A crane with 1000 kg load capacity and 8 m working range was attached to the rack structure, used to collect materials and transfer them to roller conveyors at the saw station.
